As a result of the joint efforts of the Intellectual Property (IP) Offices/Registries of Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Suriname and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), today we are publishing a Practice Fiche on Graphic Representations of Designs.

The document provides a clear and comprehensive explanation of the principles of the practice, particularly on how to use appropriate visual disclaimers, types of views and how to represent designs on a neutral background. These principles will be generally applied by the subscribing CARIFORUM Offices.

This Practice Fiche is made publicly available with the main purpose to increase transparency, legal certainty and predictability for the benefit of the different IP offices’ users and examiners. It also aims to become a reference for these and any other interested parties.

This achievement has been made possible thanks to the collaborative work carried out by the CARIFORUM IP Offices under the framework of the CARIFORUM Intellectual Property and Innovation Project (CarIPI), analysing and finding common grounds with the criteria aligned with the Common Practice – Graphic Representation of Designs (CP6) developed by the European Union Intellectual Property Network (EUIPN).
